The Update notes for HairlinkSQL version 4.50 are now available. This version has been in testing at a number of businesses and is packed full of new features and user requests. A further email will follow shortly advising users when they can upgrade. Many HairlinkSQL users are now utilising CFL's online cloud backup system to provide extra protection of their data.

Imagine a disaster similar to the Christchurch earthquake or the Queensland Floods. The data on the server would be lost but so would the "backup"given that it resides in the same geographical location. Backing up to the "cloud" means that the data is safe in another secure location. In our opinion, this should be, without a doubt, standard policy for any business today.

By default HairlinkSQL shows products on  invoices in the order they were entered and sent. However when receiving orders, the supplier may have re-ordered the products into alphabetical order which can make reconciling the order more time consuming than need be. HairlinkSQL allows you to re-order the products on an invoice to alphabetical to make checking an order easier.

1. With the invoice open on screen, click the Key button on the right.
2. Select 'Product +' to sort into alphabetical order or 'Product -' for reverse alphabetical.

HairlinkSQL provides an easy way of searching for products where you can only remember part of the name. This is useful for products that may have long complicated names like drugs for example.

The ‘Contains’ field will assist with these issues by providing a word within a word search on the Advanced Search Screen. For example, if ‘Contains’ is unchecked and you do a search for 'Premium', the system will find only products that start with 'Premium'. If ‘Contains’ is checked it would find other items where 'Premium' was inside the name like 'Supplier Premium Body Wash'.

1. Click on the 'Product' button.
2. Click 'F8: Advanced' if only the simple search is shown.
3. Enter the part of the name you remember in the 'Name' field and tick the 'Contains' checkbox.
4. Press 'F12: Search'.

This will bring up a list of all products that have the text you entered within their name.
